The East Africa Junior Golf Rankings (EAJGR) Frequently Asked Questions

The East Africa Junior Golf Rankings (EAJGR) is an independent, merit-based system for junior golfers under 19 year across the East Africa region. EAJGR seeks to build champions, create opportunities, and transform lives by offering a credible, structured, and internationally aligned competitive environment. It provides reliable performance rankings, supports university recruitment, and establishes clear competitive pathways throughout the region.
EAJGR is an initiative of Nairobi Golf Hotels (K) Ltd, and is managed by a Board of Commissioners. The Board of Commissioners can be viewed at https://www.eastafricajuniorgolf-rankings.com/about
Yes. All EAJGR tournaments are conducted under the Rules of Golf as approved by The R&A and the USGA.

EAJGR covers four age divisions, with separate boys’ and girls’ rankings:

  • U-10
  • U-12
  • U-14
  • U-18

All players must be below the age of 19 years as of the last day of the tournament.

Yes. Boys and girls may compete together, but are ranked separately in every age division.
Age is determined by the player’s age on the last day of the competition.
Only EAJGR-sanctioned tournaments count toward the rankings. Results from other tours are not included unless specifically designated as EAJGR events.

The EAJGR runs 12 sanctioned tournaments annually. Players’ yearly rankings are calculated from their best 6 tournaments (highest points) within that period.
The Super-ranking events feature larger fields, are held over 3 days and have more points. 3 Super-ranking events are scheduled during the April, August and December School Holidays to maximize participation while minimizing disruption to school.
The inaugural 12 events in 2026 are held at the Windsor Golf Hotel & Country Club. As the rankings grow, the tournaments will be expanded to other clubs and regions.

The ranking is based on the Base Points and Tournament Multiplier based on the grade.

Yes. A player must complete at least 3 ranked tournaments to receive an official EAJGR ranking. The player must play at 6 tournaments to maintain the yearly ranking.

  • Documented tournament history
  • Standardized scoring integrity

These are intended to support college and university golf recruitment evaluations.

Players studying abroad may participate only if they compete in EAJGR-sanctioned tournaments.
The entry fees are inclusive of Tournament entry, Caddy fees, Halfways, Lunch.
No. Participation is voluntary. Parents and players may choose EAJGR events as part of their broader junior golf development pathway.
